FAQ & General Information

Color: We can integrally color our concrete to virtually any color imaginable, while also offering color matching to any Benjamin Moore color. We can use stains for subtle color shifts, and the stains are available in every color, including white & black.

Size: Our standard size without an extra forming charge is 3/4" to 1.5" thick and up to 5' wide and 10' long. These are our standard sizes, we have no problem making pieces bigger as long as it can be transported and installed safely. Because we use a fibrous mix along with carefully selected aggregates, our concrete is much lighter than traditional concrete. Most factory-made kitchen cabinets will support concrete countertops without a problem.  However, it is wise for you to go over any special layout details with your kitchen designer or general contractor.

Custom Details:

Design is only limited to our imagination, we are not limited to only the following custom features, these are just a few of the most common details added.

  • Integral sinks
  • inlaid metal or other object
  • Holes for faucets and accessories such as hot water inserts and soap dispensers
  • Integral drain board patterns and recessed areas for special uses
  • Built-in trivets using stainless steel rods and buttons, are often used next to cook tops.
  • Edge profiles, you may choose from our selection of edge designs

                                                                        Fabrication Process

Fabrication and curing is the most important and time consuming part of the process. We make every possible effort to stay on schedule and have things completed on time. Depending on the size and scope of the work, our typical turn around time is between 3-6 weeks. However, due to the nature of the medium and the fact that everything we produce is made by hand, unforeseeable problems can occur and result in a longer wait. Customers are always welcome to call or set up an appointment to come by the shop to check on the status of their job at anytime.
The fabrication process starts with templates or detailed plans provided by the customer. The next step is forming, sourcing any special material that may be needed,  and preparing for casting.  We cast everything in our shop under controlled conditions. This allows us to create the optimal environment for the casting & curing of our highly engineered mix. This is the only way we can ensure quality fabrication of every piece that leaves the shop. When forming is complete we begin casting and preparing for curing.  After the initial curing, the concrete is removed from the form and we begin surface preparations to create the finish and look that was chosen by the customer. Once all surface preparations are complete, the second stage of curing and out gassing (removal of moisture) begins. This stage of curing can take anywhere from a few days to over a week. During this final stage of curing we are preparing the concrete for sealing while rapidly increasing early strength gains. Finally, once the moisture content is low enough, your piece is sealed and will be ready for delivery or shipping.
We produce everything from a highly engineered mix that is exceptionally strong and stain resistant. To ensure the finished product meets our high standards and will last for a lifetime, the curing process cannot be rushed. Proper curing, combined with lightweight aggregates and a very select blend of additives, allows us to produce a unique mixture that yields lighter, stronger, and highly stain resistant concrete that requires little to no maintenance. Rest assured, it is well worth the wait!
